MORE ABOUT

The Artist

Nina started her career in piercing at the age of sixteen. She is extremely creative and chose an early career path instead of following the academic road. She travelled through Europe and completed her apprenticeship in the Netherlands, where she worked for a number of years pursuing her dream to be part of the body modification industry.

Nina has worked in multiple studios in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. She was a natural from the beginning and has an eye for detail and precision and working with people.

Subsequently she moved back to sunny South Africa at the beginning of March 2020. She since then moved to George during Covid and has now found a home in the amazing studio, True Alchemy Tattoo.

Nina is keen on finding the best piercing for you and makes sure your anatomy allows for it.

FAQ

We operate by appointment only.

Due to jewellery quality standards and sterilisation needs, we do not pierce with jewellery that is not supplied by Von Vleermuis Piercings.

Yes, if you are 16 years of age (with ID), you can get the following piercings without parental consent: Earlobes, Helix, Flat Helix, Tragus, Conch, Rook, Daith, Industrial, Nostril, Monroe, Navel, Smiley, Web, Eyebrow & Tongue. You will have to be 18 years of age to get any other piercing done.

If you do not have an ID, or you are under 16 years of age, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If the parent/legal guardian and child have different surnames, we require further identification to confirm guardianship i.e., a birth certificate.

Using a needle for the piercing process itself is much safer and less painful than having a blunt stud forced through your skin. A piercing needle is not only hollow, but it is also extremely sharp. It slices through the skin, safely pushing the tissue aside to make room for the jewellery to be inserted.

Whilst this may not sound too appealing, it is a very quick process, and the method is virtually painless for most body parts. Piercings that have been done by a needle will heal quicker than those done by a gun. The only piercing that should be done by a gun is the lobes.
